The Joe (Ovington) occurrence is in the headwaters of Slate Creek at an elevation of approximately 1590 metres.

The area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Devonian to Permian Fennell Formation (lower structural division) and mudstone, siltstone and shale of the Mississippian Eagle Bay Assemblage (Slate Creek Unit).

Locally, a quartz vein near the fault contact of between the lower Fennell Formation and the Eagle Bay Assemblage contains sections of massive galena mineralization.

In 1986, a sample (J-1) of mineralized vein material is reported to have assayed up to 2.1 grams per tonne gold and 92.8 grams per tonne silver (Property File - Foran Mining Corporation [1996-01-26]: Prospectus Report - Foran Mining Corporation).

In 1989, a sample (42760) of mineralized quartz float yielded 3.2 grams per tonne gold, 164.2 grams per tonne silver and 6.3 per cent lead, whereas a sample (52707) of bleached phyllite sub-crop assayed 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 38.9 grams per tonne silver, 1.96 per cent lead and 0.79 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 19546)

During 1986 through 1989, the area was prospected and sampled by L. Ovington as the Joe claim.
